Quiet Time
If you haven't noticed, there have been only a handful of shows lately. That's planned. The original intent was to find a band, but I seem to be completely out of practice in that realm. I am not a "hey let's jam" kind of musician, though I have been known to be a part of spontaneous music making. Working with Shane Hall has been a good lesson in sliding into a groove and being part of a whole rather than trying to make all the sound myself with one guitar and my voice. As I've said on numerous occasions, I haven't been in a full band since high school. Now I feel like a goofy kid again with barely a notion of what I'm doing in a band.

So in these few months of quiet time, I've written an album's worth of material and played a few shows in Worcester. Having a day job detracts from my overall drive and ambition. I see friends that have long since left behind the daily grind to try to make the music work for them. I'm already poor though, so I can't picture paying bills and eating too. One or the other would happen. But as we roll into the fall, I have the itch and urge to get back on stages regularly. It's going to be a different approach. Mainly that approach is: Go somewhere beside Worcester.

So for the 5 of you reading this, it's been nice to step out of the flickering spotlight and evaluate my situation. Now it's time to stop wondering and get back out there. The band will still happen, just maybe not as quickly as it seemed it would. For now, I have to go put on a different hat and play in the land of customer service.
The Latest and Greatest
I'm going to try to keep this short...

I've started working with my good friend Shane Hall, playing guitar and singing harmonies, in the new line-up for his band The TickleBomb Orchestra. These guys I'm working with are a blast and I'm learning every second we're playing. There's a couple dates coming up - September 4th for one, which is The Open Road Festival. (Follow the link to buy tickets.) I'll clue you in on facebook with the other dates when I've got them.

Also coming in September is my birthday. Now, I'm not big on birthday parties or presents. I've had plenty of that by now. I've decided instead to turn a show into a birthday bash. September 23, I'll be back at Beatnik's with The Smile Makers (and hopefully a couple surprise guests) to celebrate life. To make the event extra special, I'll be broadcasting the show online. So if you can't be there, you can enjoy interact with me and enjoy from home or where ever you are if your mobile device is capable. I'll post info as soon as the details are ironed out, but you can be sure we're going to have fun with this!

If you haven't noticed, I've also begun work on an animated short film. I'e already talked about it in a previous post, so I'll just share the link again to the project blog.

I think that's it for now. As always, there's more to come.

Animated Short Project
Hey everyone! I just wanted to share the link to my secondary blog dedicated to the process and goings-on of the film project I've started with a few of my siblings. It's based on music I've written. I came up with a loose plot line and we're expanding from there in a collaborative effort to create something fantastic. It's explained better over here. And It Hurts: Film Project

Be sure to subscribe to both my blogs to keep up with whats going on and don't forget that Tuesday Aug. 17 is the last installment of the Live at Beatnik's video series on YouTube!
